About Us
PROUDLY MADE IN MONTANA, USA
StoneX Splitter is a family-owned company based near Glacier National Park, founded by a mason with over 20 years in the trade.
THE STONEX SPLITTER STONE VENEER CUTTING TOOL WAS BUILT FROM A NEED.
If you've been a mason for a while, you remember the Mighty C. We used it daily until Montana Rockworks stopped production and parts became unavailable.
The Mighty C was a workhorse in its day—some masons still use them, sharpening the teeth to keep them running—but they're slower and at 110 lbs, very heavy. We needed a tool that was faster, lighter, and built for the pace of today's work.
AS MASONS WHO LIVED THIS PROBLEM EVERY DAY, WE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE INDUSTRY NEEDED, SO WE BUILT IT.
We searched the market for a replacement tool that met our standards, and it didn't exist yet. The need was industry-wide, so we set out to build a tool that fit our criteria.
We wanted to use quality, USA-sourced materials and parts. After years of extensive field testing, refining the materials, and tweaking the design, we have our toughest model today. We regularly take feedback from masons and make improvements along the way.
BUILDING A SOLID PRODUCT MEANS LEARNING FROM MISTAKES—AND NOT REPEATING THEM
Our biggest mistake? Trying to cut costs with a cheap hydraulic pump from China. Those pumps would only last 6 months to a year—unacceptable for a tool built for daily use.
Two critical upgrades define the StoneX Splitter's longevity: the Enerpac Electric Hydraulic Pump and steel teeth with carbide inlay. The Enerpac pump is a significant portion of the tool's cost, but it's worth it. Our pumps, and our entire tool, are built to withstand daily, dirty use and abuse.
PROVEN, AND PATENTED
The time and energy invested in a patent is a long process. We received PATENT D1068426 in April 2025. Now, every day masons use the StoneX Splitter, they gain back their most valuable asset: TIME.
The creator of the Mighty C has been a supporter from day one. He now recommends the StoneX Splitter and uses it in his own production lines. From a need in Montana to job sites across the country—the StoneX Splitter is built by masons, for masons.
OLD vs NEW
We're always looking for ways to make the StoneX Splitter better.
The current model is our toughest yet. We got tired of constantly sharpening T-50 grade steel teeth, so we had carbide inlaid—and the upgrade made a huge difference.
"The trade of masonry respects tradition. The market rewards speed and efficiency."
